The Colonials (2-1-3) come off a hard-fought 0-0 (2OT) draw at No. 12 Wake Forest on Tuesday night. Sophomore goalkeeper Thor Arne Höfs tallied seven saves for his third clean sheet of the season. The draw marked GW's best finish against a top-15 squad since 1988.
GW tallied its second victory of the season on Sunday afternoon, when sophomore Dylan Lightbourn landed a header off of a corner kick with less than five seconds remaining in regulation time to notch his second gamewinner of the season and lift the Colonials over visiting Navy, 1-0. Lightbourn leads the Buff and Blue with two goals on the year - the first goals of his career.
The Colonials have allowed just four goals in 2016 for an Atlantic 10-leading 0.60 goals-against average - good for 22nd in the nation.
UMBC (1-1-3) enters Saturday with a three-match unbeaten streak on two draws and a win. The Retrievers also played 110 minutes in their last game - playing West Virginia to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday.
The Colonials look to avenge a 3-2 loss to the Retrievers from a year ago, when Tobi Adewole tallied a goal for the Buff and Blue. GW trails in the all-time series, 4-9-3.
