WASHINGTON - The George Washington men's soccer team posted a 2-2 tie with visiting James Madison in the first exhibition game of the season on Wednesday afternoon at the GW Soccer Field on the Mount Vernon Campus.
The Colonials found the back of the net in each half, beginning when junior Alex Conning put the Colonials up 1-0 at the 21:33 mark after skillfully placing the ball into the lower left corner of the net with a sliding kick. Junior Oliver Curry and senior Garrett Heine were each credited with an assist on the play after playing the ball from the left wing to Conning in the box.
JMU answered with two goals to take a 2-1 lead at the half.
In the 61st minute, rookie Colin Anderson earned GW a penalty kick after drawing a foul deep in the box, allowing junior Koby Osei-Wusu the opportunity to score the final goal of the game and put the final score at 2-2.
