WASHINGTON - Nine George Washington gymnastics student-athletes have earned 2016 Academic Scholastic All-America honors from the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches for Women (NACGCW), the organization announced this week.
As a team, the Colonials ranked 26th nationally with nine student-athletes honored. GW also has the second-most honorees amongst teams from the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL).
Individuals must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 to earn Scholastic All-America Honors.
Amongst GW's nine honorees are six repeat recipients. Recently alumnae Taylor Redmond (3.54, Geological Sciences), rising-senior Kaila Solomon (3.88, Political Science) and rising-juniors Cami Drouin-Allaire (3.60, Biology), Jillian Winstanley (3.97, Finance), Liz Pfeiler (3.76, Biology) and Sara Mermelstein (3.74, Biology) each earned their second consecutive recognition.
They were joined by first-time honorees in rising-sophomore Alex Zois (3.68, Exercise Science) and rising-juniors Jessica Mishlove (3.58, Exercise Science) and Madeline Seibold (3.60, Biology).
All nine honorees were also named to the EAGL All-Scholastic Team in March.
