GW Women's Hoops' Rizzotti Set for Rio 2016

WASHINGTON - George Washington women's basketball head coach Jennifer Rizzotti will make a cross-country flight to Los Angeles, California, on Friday to join the United States Women's National Team for the final stretch before departing for the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Rizzotti, who has extensive USA Basketball coaching experience, will serve on head coach Geno Auriemma's staff along with Doug Bruno, Cheryl Reeve and Dawn Staley as the United States attempts to win its sixth consecutive gold medal in Rio.
Rizzotti previously led the United States Under-18 National Team to the Gold Medal at the 2010 FIBA Americas U18 Championship and the U19 National Team to the Gold Medal at the FIBA U19 World Championship. She also served as an assistant coach under Bruno for the U18 National Team in 2006.
Team USA will play exhibition games in Los Angeles (July 23 vs. United States National Select Team), Newark, Delaware (July 27 vs. France), Bridgeport, Connecticut (July 29 vs. Canada) and New York City (July 31 vs. Australia) before departing for Rio on August 2.
Team USA opens group play on August 8 against Spain.
