Atlantic 10 Schedule Pairings
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The two-time defending Atlantic 10 Champion George Washington women's basketball team will play seven games against teams that qualified for the 2015-16 postseason as part of its 16-game Atlantic 10 Conference schedule, the league office announced on Thursday.
The complete 2016-17 conference schedule, complete with dates and times, will be announced at a later date.
The Colonials, under the direction of new head coach Jennifer Rizzotti, will face NCAA Tournament participant and Atlantic 10 Championship runner-up Duquesne in one of three home-and-home series in 2016-17. GW will also play twice against 2015 WNIT participant Dayton and local Revolutionary Rival George Mason.
GW will also host Davidson, Fordham, NCAA participant St. Bonaventure, Saint Joseph's and WNIT participant VCU at the Charles E. Smith Center in 2016-17.
Additionally, the Colonials will make road trips to La Salle, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Richmond and WNIT participant Saint Louis.
The 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship will feature a new, enhanced format with six first-round games being played on campus sites (Feb. 25-26) before heading to the Richmond Coliseum, March 3-5, for the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship game. The top two championship seeds will receive a bye while seeds 3-8 will host first round games.
All seven games in Richmond will be televised by the Atlantic 10's media partners. The American Sports Network (ASN) will carry all four quarterfinal games, while CBS Sports Network will air the semifinal games. The championship game will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks. All six first-round games will be available online on the A-10 Network.
