SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- GW rising sophomore golfer Logan Lowe won the Sacramento City Men's Championship last weekend by shooting a 7-under par 137 over 36 holes of play at MacKenzie Golf Course at Haggin Oaks.
Lowe opened the championship with a 5-under 67 on Saturday and was tied for the lead going into the final round. He then fired a 2-under 70 on Sunday to claim the title by one stroke.
"It was a really good feeling to win this event," said Lowe. "Whenever you can pick up a victory it gives you a boost of confidence and momentum that I hope to carry through the summer."
With his win, Lowe has qualified for the California Men's Amateur Championship, which is set to be held September 3-5 at the same course. He is next scheduled to play at the Sierra Players Invitational on June 27-29.
A native of Grass Valley, California, Lowe is coming off a stellar freshman campaign for the Colonials in which he was the only freshman to be named to the 10-man Atlantic 10 All-Conference Team after leading GW with a 73.31 stroke average in 10 events. Playing his best golf towards the end of the season, he recorded four straight top-20s to end the year including a 13th-place finish at the A-10 Championship.

Rising senior Michael Heda qualified for the Florida State Amateur Championship by shooting a 2-over 74 in a qualifying round at Fort Lauderdale Country Club on Sunday.
The Championship will be held June 23-26 at Fiddlesticks Country Club in Fort Myers, as well as Miromar Lakes Beach and Golf Club. Heda played in three events for GW last season and had a 77.67 scoring average.
