NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- George Washington freshman golfer Logan Lowe has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the second week in a row, the league announced on Thursday.
The honor is the fourth of the season for Lowe, who previously received two nods during the fall. Over the last month, he has put together three consecutive top-20 showings, with the most recent coming at last weekend's Hoosier Invitational, where he finished T-11th.
Lowe overcame an opening-round 77 by posting the only round in the 60s among the 75-man field with a 69 in the final round to vault up the leaderboard. He finished the weekend tying a tournament high with nine birdies, five of which came on Sunday.
For the spring, Lowe is averaging a 71.25 in eight rounds of stroke play competition, the best mark on the team. His four Rookie of the Week honors are the most bestowed upon a Colonial in a single season since 2007-08, when Brendan Barrack was recognized six times.
GW returns to action on April 15 at the El Mercero Classic in Davis, California - its final event before the Atlantic 10 Championship (April 29-May 1).
