PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The George Washington lacrosse team dropped an 18-11 decision to Atlantic 10 rival Duquesne on Sunday afternoon at the Dukes' Rooney Field.
Junior Bailey Forcier dished out five assists for the second time in three games after also recording five helpers last Sunday at VCU. She again matched the third-highest single-game total in program history while moving into a tie with Megan Seidman ('12) for eighth place on GW's single-season list with 24 assists on the year. Forcier added a goal and two draw controls in the game.
Senior Gabbi Hull matched her season and career high with four goals while also recording three ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers.
GW held a 3-2 advantage with 11:35 remaining in the first half after back-to-back markers by sophomore Jocelyn Donohue, but Duquesne rattled off the final six goals of the period to take an 8-3 lead at the break.
The Colonials used a 4-1 run to open the second stanza to pull within two, 9-7, with 24:37 remaining, as Forcier found Hull twice in a span of 58 seconds, but the Dukes again scored six in a row for a 15-7 lead with just under 11 minutes to go. Senior Julia Lawson ended the spurt with her second goal of the game at 9:58, as GW tallied four of the game's final seven goals, but it was not enough to avoid the 18-11 loss.
Sophomore goalkeeper Adele Wise recorded seven saves and moved into seventh place all-time at GW with 124 in her career. Jenna Bishop stopped eight shots for the Dukes.
With one assist in the game, senior Olivia Boudreau became the eighth Colonial ever with 50 assists in her career, moving into a tie with Meghan McDonough ('05) and Kristin Karcsh ('08) for sixth place all-time at GW.
Duquesne was led offensively by Jill Vacanti (4g, 1a), Macy Marafioti (4g, 1a) and Kaelin Shaw (4g).
The Colonials conclude the regular season on Saturday, when they host Atlantic 10 rival Saint Joseph's for Senior Day at 1 p.m.
