
GW Women's Tennis Falls to Saint Louis

WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's tennis team fell to Atlantic 10 opponent Saint Louis on Saturday afternoon at the indoor Southeast Tennis Center. The match marked the indoor home finale for the Buff and Blue.
The Billikens (14-3) got out to a quick 1-0 lead after taking the doubles point with victories at the top two spots. GW's third-flight duo of senior Egle Jakuciunaite and freshman Victoria Kogan grabbed a 6-3 triumph.
In singles play, Saint Louis came out on top in the No. 4 bout to increase its lead to 2-0. Sophomore Marie-Louise Decamps cut the Billikens' edge in half with her victory at the No. 2 slot, 6-3, 6-4, but Saint Louis clinched the match with wins at the Nos. 6 and 5 slots and added a victory at the top spot to take a 5-1 lead.
Junior Taylor Nederlander closed the day with a come-from-behind 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-7 triumph at the No. 3 position for the Colonials to put the final score at 5-2.
The Buff and Blue hit the road for a three-match spring break trip to California beginning on March 13 at Santa Clara. The Colonials then return to the District to open their outdoor home season at the GW Tennis Center.
