SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The George Washington women's tennis team fell at No. 64 Santa Clara on Saturday afternoon, 6-1, at the Bronco's Degheri Tennis Center to begin a three-match trip to California.
No. 64 Santa Clara (6-4) grabbed the early doubles point with wins at the Nos. 1 and 3 positions. Freshman Victoria Kogan and sophomore Marie-Louise Decamps then nearly took the victory at No. 2, but were ultimately edged, 7-5.
The Broncos took singles matches at the bottom two flights, but freshman Sara Grubac took a straight-set, 7-5, 6-2, triumph at the No. 2 position to keep the Colonials alive.
