LEADING OFF: The No. 22 George Washington gymnastics team will conclude the regular season by hosting Kent State and Yale at the 2016 Senior Meet on Sunday afternoon at the Charles E. Smith Center.
SENIOR SALUTE: The Colonials will honor seniors Taylor Redmond and Alexsis Petrikis following Sunday's meet. Both gymnasts have played a key role in the resurgence of the gymnastics program, helping GW to an NCAA regional appearance as juniors.
STANDINGS: GW continues to lead the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) in overall record (22-4), EAGL record (8-2), average team score (195.725), season-high score (196.600), regional-qualifying score (195.905) and overall national ranking (22).
RQS IN EFFECT: This week's national rankings continue to take the Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) into account. RQS is based on a team, all-around and event competitors' six best regular-season meet scores, of which three must be away. The RQS is calculated by eliminating the high score and averaging the remaining five.
LOCKED IN: roadtonationals.com, the official statistics database for collegiate gymnastics, has the Colonials "realistically locked" into next month's NCAA Regionals. The "realistically locked" distinction is defined as "realistically impossible to miss regionals, even if all other teams got a full point higher than their high score on all remaining meets."
The top 36 teams at the end of the conference championship meets will advance to one of six NCAA regional sites around the nation. The top 18 teams will be seeded as top-three seeds at the six regional locations (Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Iowa, Utah State, Minnesota).
VAULT TO THE TOP: GW is the top-ranked vaulting team in the EAGL, boasting a lineup that ranks 26th in the nation with a team regional-qualifying score of 48.915. The Colonials also occupy the top three spots in the EAGL individual vault rankings. Sophomore Cami Drouin-Allaire leads the way with an RQS of 9.860. Sophomore Jillian Wintanley, who owns the conference's top vault routine this season of 9.925, ranks second with a 9.855 RQS, followed by junior Chelsea Raineri in third with a 9.845 RQS.
SUPER SOPHOMORES: The sophomore duo of Drouin-Allaire and Winstanley sit atop the EAGL all-around rankings. Winstanley boasts an RQS of 39.285 while Drouin-Allaire is right behind her at 39.275. Both gymnasts have hit for a season-high score of 39.45 this season.
LOOKING AHEAD: The Colonials will aim to become back-to-back EAGL champions at next weekend's conference championship meet at Pittsburgh's Fitzgerald Field House. The last time an EAGL team won consecutive titles was North Carolina in 2010 and 2011.
