No. 20 GW Gymnastics Places Second at Towson Quad Meet

TOWSON, Md. - The No. 20 George Washington gymnastics team competed in the first of two meets this weekend on Friday evening, placing second out of four teams at Towson's Pink Meet at SECU Arena.
GW (15-3) scored 195.35 to finish behind East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) rival NC State (195.925) and ahead of Towson (194.55) and William & Mary (192.975).
GW registered team scores of 48.875 on vault, 48.425 on uneven bars, 49.00 on balance beam and 49.05 on floor exercise.
The Colonials totaled 10 podium appearances across the four events and the all-around. Sophomore Alex Zois claimed the uneven bars title with a career-high score of 9.90, including a 9.95 from one judge.
Sophomore Cami Drouin-Allaire placed second in the all-around with a score of 39.40. She tied for second on the vault (9.85), uneven bars (season-high tying 9.875) and floor exercise (9.875) in addition to a 9.80 on balance beam (t-7th).
Sophomore Jillian Winstanley scored 39.275 in the all-around to place third overall. She made a podium appearance on the uneven bars (t-2nd, 9.875) in addition to marks of 9.825 on vault (t-4th), 9.775 on balance beam (t-10th) and 9.80 on floor exercise (t-8th).
Junior Chelsea Raineri tied Drouin-Allaire for second place on vault with a 9.85 in addition to marks of 9.80 on uneven bars (11th) and 9.75 on floor (14th).
Junior Alex DeMoura posted a pair of 9.825 scores on both balance beam (t-3rd) and floor exercise (t-4th).
GW will compete for the second time in three days when it hosts Sunday's annual Brownie & Girl Scout Meet at the Charles E. Smith Center at 1:00 p.m.
