- With Wednesday evening's overtime win over Richmond, the Colonials improved to 22-6 overall and 12-3 in Atlantic 10 play. GW is tied with Saint Louis for second place in the conference standings one game behind Duquesne (13-2) and a game ahead of St. Bonaventure (11-4) with one game remaining. GW has clinched a top-4 seed and a bye through to the quarterfinals in next week's A-10 Championship.
- GW has now won seven straight against Richmond and is 24-10 all-time against the Spiders. The teams needed more than 40 minutes for the second time in their last three meetings, as the Colonials also beat the Spiders in overtime last February at the Robins Center.
- The Colonials, who played their second overtime game in a week after taking St. Bonaventure to extra time last Wednesday, improved to 2-1 in overtime games this season. GW downed No. 25/21 Iowa in double-OT on Nov. 27 at the Lone Star Showcase. The three overtime games this season match the program record set by the 1981-82 and 1987-88 squads.
- Four Colonials scored double figures on Wednesday for the third straight game and the seventh time in the last nine contests without injured Naismith Trophy candidate Jonquel Jones. Junior Hannah Schaible led GW with 16 points, while grad student Lauren Chase tallied 11 points and sophomores Kelli Prange and Brianna Cummings scored 10 points apiece.
- Chase's six assists against Richmond moved her into eighth place on GW's single-season list with 166 on the year. The graduate student ranks 15th in the nation with 5.9 helpers per contest, and her career 4.83 assists-per-game average ranks 11th among all active Division I players.
- GW matched a season high with 11 steals on Wednesday, led by four from Schaible and three from Chase.
- GW outrebounded the Spiders, 44-35, to win the battle of the boards for the 26th time in 28 games this season. Prange and junior Caira Washington each grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and Cummings added seven. The Buff and Blue lead the nation with 48.7 boards per game this season while ranking fourth nationally with a +14.1 rebounding margin.
- In a back-and-fourth game that featured seven ties and 11 lead changes, including two ties and five lead changes in the fourth quarter alone, Schaible came up clutch in overtime, scoring five of GW's seven points in the extra stanza, including the game-winning free throws with 3.6 seconds left.
