LEADING OFF: The No. 20 George Washington gymnastics team returns to action with its first weekend of the season that features multiple meets. The Colonials travel to nearby Towson for a quad meet on Friday night against the host Tigers, NC State and William & Mary at 7:00 p.m. at SECU Arena.
GW returns home to the Charles E. Smith Center for Sunday's annual Brownie/Girl Scout Meet at 1:00 p.m. against Towson, Maryland and Rutgers.
STREAKING AT SMITH CENTER: Following last weekend's Pink Meet victory, the Colonials have now defeated 17 consecutive opponents at the Charles E. Smith Center. The last time the Colonials did not place first in a home meet was March 3, 2014 - a span that will reach 728 days come Sunday afternoon.
RQS IN EFFECT: This week's national rankings are the first of the season that take the Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) into effect. RQS is based on a team, all-around and event competitors' six best regular-season-meet scores, of which three must be away. The RQS is calculated by eliminating the high score and averaging the remaining five.
TOP OF EAGL: GW continues to lead the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) in a number of categories. The Colonials are tops in the conference with a 13-2 overall record, 195.520 RQS and 195.629 average team score. Additionally, the Colonials pace the conference as a team on vault (48.775 RQS), uneven bars (48.915 RQS) and floor exercise (48.890 RQS).
AMONG THE BEST: GW's individual student-athletes also rank amongst the top-five in the conference on individual apparatuses.
Sophomore Cami Drouin-Allaire continues to pace the conference on vault (9.830 RQS) while ranking fifth in the all-around (38.875 RQS) while classmate Jillian Winstanley ranks second on both vault (9.815 RQS) and all-around (38.875) and third on uneven bars (9.805 RQS).
Junior Chelsea Raineri is tied for fourth on floor exercise with a 9.795 RQS and junior Alex DeMoura checks in at fourth in the all-around (38.910).
LOOK AHEAD: Next weekend will also feature two meets within a three-day stretch as GW will host NC State on Friday, March 4, at 7:00 p.m. before traveling to Maryland for a quad meet with the host Terrapins, Pittsburgh and Texas Women's University.
