WELCOME HOME: The No. 17 George Washington gymnastics team returns to the Charles E. Smith Center for the first time since January 17 to host its annual Pink Meet against East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) rivals North Carolina and New Hampshire, along with William & Mary. The meet marks one of the first events of GW's Homecoming Weekend.
LAST TIME OUT: The Colonials performed admirably at last weekend's Perfect 10 Challenge in Oklahoma City, totaling four podium appearances and a third-place team finish in a loaded field that featured No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 10 Denver and No. 30 Utah State.
NATIONAL RECOGNITION: During the national telecast on Fox Sports Southwest and Fox College Sports Central, former Olympians Bart Connor and Kelly Garrison-Funderbunk spoke highly of the Colonials' rise into the national spotlight. Garrison-Funderbunk was especially fond of the Colonials' leotards, which she noted were far and away best at the competition that evening.
TOP 25 ALL-AROUND: In addition to its No. 17 overall national ranking, GW also holds national top-25 rankings on all four events. The Colonials are ranked 17th on both uneven bars (48.96 average) and balance beam (48.905 average), 19th on floor exercise (48.98 average) and 22nd on vault (48.83 average).
EAGL RANKINGS: The sophomore duo of Cami Drouin-Allaire and Jillian Winstanley continue to rank amongst the conference leaders in a number of events. Drouin-Allaire's 9.85 vault average is first in the conference and 26th nationally while Winstanley sits second on that apparatus (9.825). Winstanley's 9.925 on January 9 remains the highest-scoring vault routine in the EAGL this season.
Winstanley also ranks second on uneven bars with an average of 9.825 and second in the all-around with an average score of 39.070.
Drouin-Allaire enters the weekend ranked second in the conference on floor exercise (9.860) and tied for fifth in the all-around (38.965) with teammate Alex DeMoura.
Additionally, junior Chelsea Raineri holds top-five rankings on uneven bars (5th, 9.790) and floor exercise (5th, 9.810), while sophomore Liz Pfeiler is fourth on balance beam (9.810).
PUT A RING ON IT: GW will celebrate its 2015 EAGL Championship when it receives its championship rings during a ceremony following Friday's competition.
