KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The George Washington men's soccer team earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the fourth year in a row, the organization announced on Thursday.
The NSCAA recognized a total of 315 men's soccer teams across all NCAA divisions with team grade-point averages of 3.0 or higher for the 2015-16 academic year.
With a team GPA of 3.31, the Colonials were one of eight Atlantic 10 schools recognized. The honor marks GW men's soccer's sixth all-time selection for the award after also earning it in 2004, 2009, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
Seventeen members of GW's 2015 squad posted a GPA of 3.0 or higher in both semesters last academic year. Senior Sam Summerlin earned a spot on the A-10 All-Academic Team and was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District Team member last season. Ten Colonials earned A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll distinction for the fall 2015 semester, while 12 landed on the spring 2016 list.
GW was one of eight A-10 member schools and one of 221 institutions nationally with both men's and women's programs honored.
