GW Women's Tennis' Siopacha Advances to Flight Final

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Sophomore Maria Siopacha advanced to her singles flight final on Saturday afternoon as the GW women's tennis squad completed day two of competition at the Hokie Fall Invite hosted by Virginia Tech.
Siopacha advanced to the Orange Flight final with a victory over Marshall's Daniela Dankanych in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Siopacha will face Virginia Tech's Sansitha Nandakumar on Sunday for the flight crown.
Senior Taylor Nederlander, juniors Marie-Louise Decamps and Melis Bayraktaroglu, and sophomore Victoria Kogan each notched victories in consolation singles play in their respective flights.
In doubles action, the duo of Siopacha and senior Allison Hansen fell in the quarterfinal of the Hokie Flight before winning a consolation match, 8-4, over Towson's Sophie Lesage and Lucy Gloninger.
The tandem of Decamps and Kogan advanced to the Hokie Flight consolation final with two victories on Saturday. The pair first downed Radford's Claire Nguyen and Karlie Pope, 8-3, in the quarterfinal before triumphing over Virginia Tech's McKenzie Collins and Fallon Delp, 8-4.
Consolation singles and doubles play will conclude on Sunday.
