WASHINGTON - The George Washington men's soccer squad returns to action on Wednesday at St. Bonvanture in the penultimate week of Atlantic 10 play.
The Colonials (7-3-5, 2-1-2 A-10) are coming off of two dominant conference wins over George Mason and Saint Joseph's - both by scores of 3-0. With just three matches left in the regular season, the Buff and Blue sit in third place in the conference standings, while St. Bonaventure is seventh.
Senior Garrett Heine posted an impressive week last week, tallying nine points (4g, 1a) en route to selection as CollegeSoccerNews.com's National Player of the Week, the NSCAA's Division I College Player of the Week and the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week.
GW enters the week with a nation-leading 0.865 save percentage and has matched a program record with eight clean sheets on the year. Sophomore keeper Thor Arne Höfs has earned all eight of the Colonials' clean sheets, matching the single-season program record.
Junior Oliver Curry has also excelled offensively in A-10 play, tallying five points on two goals and an assist.
The Colonials have seen an uptick in scoring during A-10 play with eight of GW's 19 goals on the season coming in the last five contests against conference foes.
St. Bonaventure (3-9-2, 2-2-1 A-10) most recently defeated Dayton in overtime, 1-0, on Saturday.
The Bonnies sit at the bottom of the conference with nine goals on the season and have allowed 25 goals on the year. GW leads the league with just 10 goals conceded in 2016.
The Colonials look to avenge a 2-1 loss to the Bonnies from a year ago. GW leads the all-time series with St. Bonvanture 13-9-2.
