GW Gymnastics' Winstanley Named EAGL Gymnast of the Week

BALTIMORE - George Washington gymnastics sophomore Jillian Winstanley has been named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Gymnast of the Week after helping the Colonials to a season-opening win at last weekend's Little Boston Invitational.
The reigning EAGL Rookie of the Year, Monday's award marks the second weekly conference award of Winstanley's career. She was named the Gymnast of the Week in the final week of the regular season last season.
The Arlington, Massachusetts, native won three events on Saturday, including the all-around with a score of 39.30. It marked the 12th time in her career she surpassed the 39.00 threshold. She also scored a career-high 9.925 on vault to take the title while earning co-champion honors on the uneven bars with a score of 9.90.
Following the first weekend of competition, Winstanley holds national top-10 rankings on vault (t-1st), uneven bars (t-4th) and all-around (t-7th).
GW will make its home debut on Sunday, hosting the Lindsey Ferris Invitational at 1 p.m. at the Charles E. Smith Center.
