GW Women's Tennis' Kussainova Claims Flight Championship

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Freshman Diana Kussainova won her second flight championship of the fall on Sunday as the George Washington women's tennis team finished the three-day UVa Invitational with the tournament's remaining singles matches.
Kussainova took on Miami (Ohio)'s Anzhelika Shopovalova and came on top in decisive 6-0, 3-0 fashion before Shopovalova retired from the match to claim the White Flight solo title. With the victory, The rookie is now 8-0 in singles play and has won two flight championships on the fall season.
Freshman Victoria Kogan took eighth place in the White Flight, falling to Old Dominion's Marijana Novakovic, 6-2, 4-6, 15-13.
Sophomore Teodora Radosavljevic's match for fifth place in the Orange Flight was not played, but Radosavljevic defeated Utah's Victoria Robertson in a consolation match, 6-2, 6-3.
In the Blue Flight, sophomore Marie-Louise Decamps fell to Miami (Ohio)'s Hanna Shteyn, 6-3, 6-1, in the consolation third place match to wrap the weekend of play.
The Colonials return to action from Oct. 9-11 at the three-day Blue and Gold Invitational hosted by Navy.
