WASHINGTON - George Washington gymnastics freshman and Second Team All-American Cami Drouin-Allaire will compete at the NCAA Gymnastics Championships as an individual all-around qualifier on April 17 at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
Drouin-Allaire is just the second NCAA Championship individual qualifier in program history after J.J. Tolhurst competed in 1994. She will rotate with No. 8 Auburn in Semifinal II beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Friday night.
The Shoreham, New York, native will compete for the all-around title on Friday, which is awarded to the top finisher from both semifinals combined. A top-four finish in Semifinal II on an individual event (including ties) will earn her a berth into Sunday's event finals.
Drouin-Allaire and Auburn will begin the Semifinal on uneven bars followed by balance beam, bye, floor exercise, vault and bye.
The remaining five teams in Semifinal II are No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 3 Alabama, No. 4 LSU, No. 9 Nebraska and No. 12 Oregon State. Drouin-Allaire joins East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) colleagues Brittni Watkins and Michaela Woodford of NC State, Nina McGee of Denver, Kelsey Morris of Boise State and Taylor Harrison of Ohio State as the individual qualifiers.
Drouin-Allaire tied for fifth place with Iowa's Angel Metcalf in the all-around at the NCAA Auburn Regional on April 4. She advanced to the National Championships by virtue of her head-to-head vault score of 9.875 compared to Metcalf's 9.825. She also posted scores of 9.875 on vault (T-8th), 9.85 on uneven bars (T-5th), 9.75 on balance beam (T-25th) and 9.70 on floor exercise (T-26th).
Drouin-Allaire won the EAGL vault championship on March 22 with a score of 9.95 to help lead the Colonials to their first-ever EAGL Championship. It marked the third time this season she has achieved 9.95 on vault, which ties her for the best routine in program history.
A First Team All-EAGL selection on vault, floor exercise and all-around, Drouin-Allaire ranks ninth in the nation for individual regional qualifying score (RQS) on vault. She averages 9.89 per vault routine and has eclipsed the 9.90 mark on six occasions this season.
Drouin-Allaire earned Second Team All-America honors on vault from the National Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches Association (NACGC/W) on March 27, the first gymnast in program history to earn All-America honors.
She played an integral role in the finest season in GW program history which included a 23-3-1 regular-season mark, three new program records and the first EAGL Championship since joining the conference in 2004.
