NORFOLK, Va. - Despite a No. 3 doubles victory, the George Washington women's tennis squad suffered a 7-0 loss to Atlantic Region rival Old Dominion on Saturday afternoon at the Lady Monarch's Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
The Colonials (4-9, 0-1 A-10) faced a hot ODU (10-4) who has now won its last four matches.
In the doubles draw, freshmen Teodora Radosavljevic and Marie-Louise Decamps triumphed in the three spot, 8-6, over ODU's Ingrid Vojcinakova and Ivana Vukovic, but the Colonials could not snatch the doubles point after losses in the top two slots.
In singles action, Radosavljevic faced strong competition, falling to the nation's No. 93 solo player, 6-1, 6-1, in the top spot. Junior Egle Jakuciunaite played a tough fourth-flight match, battling ODU's Marijana Novakovic before being defeated, 6-1, 7-6 (3).
Junior Lana Robins and sophomores Grace Egger, Allison Hansen and Taylor Nederalnder each lost in straight-sets in the Nos. 2, 3, 5 and 6 positions, respectively.
The Buff and Blue wrap the weekend with a road match at Atlantic 10 foe Richmond (6-2, 2-0 A-10) on Sunday. First serve is slated for 12 p.m. at the Spiders' Westhampton Tennis Complex.
