GW Women's Tennis Drops Weekend Finale

RICHMOND, Va. - The George Washington women's tennis squad fell to Atlantic 10 conference foe Richmond on Sunday afternoon at the Spiders' Westhampton Tennis Complex.
For the second-straight match, the Colonials (4-10, 0-2 A-10) took the No. 3 doubles match, but could not convert the early point. The team of freshman Teodora Radosavljevic and junior Egle Jakuciunaite downed Richmond's Emily Gitman and Gaby Rosales, 8-3, but the Spiders (7-2, 3-0 A-10) snatched the point with victories at the top two spots.
In singles play, Radosavljevic earned a top-tier triumph with a decisive, 6-2, 6-0, decision over Anna Abadias Morales. The freshman took three of her four matches over the weekend, winning a pair of doubles matches in addition to Sunday's solo bout.
Sophomore Grace Egger notched GW's second point, taking the No. 4 singles match, 6-1, 6-5, over the Spiders' Brittany Boys.
Richmond came out on top after earning points at the Nos. 2, 3, 5 and 6 positions over junior Lana Robins, Jakuciunaite, and sophomores Taylor Nederalnder and Allison Hansen, respectively.
The Colonials return to the court on Friday, when they host Atlantic Region rival UMBC (3-9) in the lone home outdoor match of the season at the GW Tennis Center on the Mount Vernon Campus at 2 p.m.
