WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's tennis team fell to James Madison, 5-2, on Sunday at the Southeast Tennis Center in its first loss of the spring season.
The Colonials (2-1) took one doubles match over the Dukes (4-1) in the No. 2 slot, with a strong 6-3 effort by freshman Marie-Louise Decamps and junior Lana Robins, but could not convert the doubles point.
Freshman Teodora Radosavljevic remains unbeaten in singles action, earning a victory after leading 6-3, 3-2 before opponent Taylor Pinchoff retired from the match in first-flight action. Decamps notched GW's second point with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph in the No. 3 position.
"We win and lose as a team," said Head Coach Greg Munoz. "Marie-Louise stepped up today with Lana Robins in the No. 2 doubles sport, and in singles she was down 0-3 before winning 12 of the next 13 games. I am very proud of how hard she competed."
The Colonials will face a pair of Atlantic Region foes next weekend as they travel to Navy on Saturday before visiting district rival Georgetown on Sunday.
