WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's tennis team fell to Georgetown, 4-1, on Sunday evening in an Atlantic Region matchup at the Hoyas' Yates Field House.
The Colonials (3-2) started off strong with a doubles win at the No. 3 position as the region's No. 10 ranked doubles tandem of sophomore Grace Egger and Teodora Radosavljevic recorded a 6-4 victory, but could not convert the early point after dropping matches at first- and second-flight action to the Hoyas (4-1).
In singles play, freshman Marie-Louise Decamps notched her second triumph of the weekend with a 6-0, 6-1 rout of Georgetown's Sophie Panarese at the No. 2 slot to tie up the match. The Colonials fell in the Nos. 1, 4 and 5 spots to tip the match in Georgetown's favor.
"I am happy with how our doubles game is looking," said Head Coach Greg Munoz. "Marie-Louise came up big with a dominant win to tie up the match, and Grace was serving for the match after a three-hour battle before play was stopped."
GW returns to action when Howard and Harvard visit the Southeast Tennis Center for back-to-back days of competition on Saturday and Sunday.
