
Freshmen Lead GW Gymnastics at NC State Tri-Meet

RALEIGH, N.C. - The rookie duo of Cami Drouin-Allaire and Jillian Winstanley combined for five podium appearances as the George Washington gymnastics team finished in third place at NC State's tri-meet against the host Wolfpack and William & Mary on Saturday night at Reynolds Coliseum.
GW posted team scores of 49.20 on vault, 48.65 on uneven bars, 47.35 on balance beam and 48.925 on floor exercise for a total of 194.125. NC State finished in first place with 195.85 while William & Mary took second with 194.35.
The Colonials' best event of the evening was vault where four student-athletes finished among the top seven. Drouin-Allaire won the event title with a score of 9.925, the second week in a row she has hit that mark. She remains only the fourth gymnast in program history to achieve that score or higher.
Winstanley finished in a tie for second place with 9.90, her second straight week hitting that score. Sophomore Chelsea Raineri tied for fourth with 9.85 and senior Elena Corcoran tied for seventh place with 9.825.
Winstanley was GW's top performer on uneven bars, tying for first place with a season-high score of 9.85. Drouin-Allaire tied for eighth with 9.775 while Raineri and junior Taylor Redmond tied for 10th with 9.725.
Sophomore Alex DeMoura earned a share of the balance beam title with a career-high tying 9.825, while Winstanley tied for fourth place with 9.80.
Drouin-Allaire was GW's top performer on floor exercise, tying for fifth place with 9.825.
Winstanley placed second overall in the all-around with a season-high score of 39.30 while Drouin-Allaire followed in third place with season-high 39.225.
GW returns to action on Friday evening when it returns to the University of Maryland for the second time this season for a quad meet against the Terrapins, Towson and William & Mary. Meet time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from Comcast Center.
