- GW defeated Memphis for the second year in a row to snap a brief two-game skid and improve to 6-3 on the season.
- The Colonials rallied from a 16-point second-quarter deficit, its largest comeback since overcoming a 16-point lead against James Madison on Nov. 25, 2006. In that game, the Colonials trailed the Dukes, 22-6, with 11:58 remaining in the first half but won, 68-56. Memphis held the lead for 33:22 of action on Sunday, as GW did not take its first lead of the game until the 5:33 mark of the fourth quarter.
- Memphis shot 46.9 percent (15-32) in the first half with five 3-pointers, but GW limited the Tigers to just 26.7 percent (8-30) in the second half with just two treys. The Colonials allowed just one field goal in the fourth quarter while outscoring Memphis, 19-8, over the final 10 minutes.
- Senior Jonquel Jones posted her seventh straight double-double and the 43rd of her career with 18 points and 17 rebounds against the Tigers. She surpassed Tracey Earley ('89) for ninth place on GW's all-time rebounding list with 768 in three years as a Colonial. The nation's leading rebounder, Jones is averaging 15.9 boards per game to go with 17.7 points per contest this season, and her seven double-doubles rank second in the NCAA.
- Sophomore Brianna Cummings posted the second double-double of her career with 10 points and 10 rebounds on Sunday. It marked the second time this season that two Colonials have recorded a double-double in the same game after Jones and junior Caira Washington did so against Houston on Thanksgiving Day.
- GW won the battle of the boards for the ninth straight game to start the season, outrebounding Memphis, 57-31. The +26 rebound margin against the Tigers was one shy of the Colonials' season high, which was accomplished in the previous game against Florida Gulf Coast (54-27). GW now ranks fourth nationally in rebounding margin (+16.9).
- With eight rebounds against Memphis, junior Caira Washington moved into a tie with Gloria Murphy ('88) for 15th place all-time at GW with 642 in her career.
