BALTIMORE - The George Washington men's swimming and diving team fell at UMBC, 132-115, on Saturday afternoon at the UMBC Aquatic Center.
Sophomore Gustav Hokfelt and senior Oliver Keegan each posted a second-place finish to lead the Colonials.
Hokfelt began his day with a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke before grabbing third in the 200 back. Hokfelt also teamed up with junior Ben Fitch and rookies Alexander Auster and Patrick Lersch to post a second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay to wrap the meet.
Keegan took second in the 200-yard butterfly and was followed close by Fitch in third.
Auster grabbed a pair of third-place finishes in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle, while junior Liam Huffman took third in the 500 free.
"Our team knew we were going to come up to an exceptionally hard challenge today against a very strong UMBC program," said Head Coach James Winchester. "I was really proud of how we handled it. We raced really well and had some great improvements from last week."
The Colonials return to action on Nov. 7, as GW hosts Towson in the 2015-16 home opener at the Charles E. Smith Center Pool.
