LYNCHBURG, Va. - The George Washington women's tennis squad finished play at the ITA Atlantic Region Championships on Saturday afternoon at Liberty to wrap the fall season of play.
Sophomores Teodora Radosavljevic and Marie-Louise Decamps finished the tournament with victories in consolation singles matches.
Radosavljevic defeated Old Dominion's Ivana Vukovic, 6-3, 6-2, and Decamps triumphed over Kristina Titova of Hampton, 6-2, 5-7, 10-7, on Saturday.
With the close of the ITA Regionals, the Colonials wrap a successful season of fall play.
"This fall was impressive for the women's team," said third-year head coach Greg Munoz. "They put in some hard work in the beginning of the semester with strength and conditioning, and I felt it really paid off thanks to strength and conditioning coach Chaz Berry. Everyone looks improved from last year."
Freshman Diana Kussainova and Radosavljevic led the fall season, wrapping with 8-0 and 8-2 records, respectively.
"Fall highlights came from a terrific start from Diana and Teodora's great play - including taking the nation's No. 3 Julia Elbaba to three sets in what may have been the best match of Regionals.
"The best feeling we have as coaches is knowing that we can play even better with the talent we have on this team. All eight of our players have the opportunity to make an impact on our spring season as we hunt for an Atlantic 10 Championship and an NCAA berth."
