GW Women's Tennis Continues Play at Navy on Saturday

Blue & Gold Invitational Bracket
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The George Washington women's tennis squad completed the first day of Navy's Blue & Gold Invitational on Friday and will continue action in the three-day tournament on Saturday.
In solo action, junior Taylor Nederlander came back from from a 2-5 deficit in the first set to defeat Loyola's Amanda Lanciano, 7-6 (2), 6-0, in the B Flight Round of 16. Nederlander will face Stony Brook's Ana Carrion in the quarterfinals on Saturday. Also in the B Flight, freshman Victoria Kogan defeated Navy's Sabrina Jiang, 6-2, 6-2, in the Round of 32, then took on Stony Brook's Yana Nikolaeva in the Round of 16 but fell, 6-3, 6-3.
Senior Egle Jakuciunaite defeated LIU Brooklyn's Isabella Wagener, 6-2, 6-2, in the D Flight Round of 16 after receiving a first round bye and will take on Stony Brook's Becky Shtillkind in the quarterfinal round.
In the C Flight, junior Allison Hansen was downed by Julia Keenan of Seton Hall, 7-6 (4), 6-2, in the Round of 16 and will face Loyola's Nicole Eberle in the consolation quarterfinals.
In doubles play, the duo of Hansen and Jakuciunaite blanked Howard's Christina Joynes and Margie Funches, 6-0, in the B Flight Round of 16 before falling to Navy's Amanda Keller and Kristine Rojo, 6-3, in the quarterfinals. The pair of Kogan and Nederlander fought hard, but fell to Delaware's Amanda Studnicki and Annie Jaskulski, 6-2, in the A Flight Round of 16.
Consolation doubles matches will be played on Saturday.
Both singles and doubles finals, as well as all consolation finals, will be played on Sunday.
