GW Women's Tennis Wins Second Straight

WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's tennis team won a key doubles point and three singles matches to defeat visiting Towson, 4-3, at the Southeast Tennis Center on Saturday morning.
Saturday's win over the Tigers (0-2) marks the second straight victory for the Colonials (2-0) to start the spring season.
The Atlantic Region's No. 10 ranked doubles pair of sophomore Grace Egger and freshman Teodora Radosavljevic were triumphant for the second time this season in their 6-4 defeat of Towson's Renate van Oorschodt and A.J. Gomer in second-flight action. Junior Lana Robins and freshman Marie-Louise Decamps clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 victory in the No. 3 slot.
In singles action, Radosavljevic continued her strong play with a 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-2 win in the No. 1 spot. The Colonials dropped matches at the Nos. 2-4 positions, but won the contest with victorious efforts at the bottom of the ladder. Egger went the distance, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1, and came out on top in fifth-flight action.
Sophomore Allison Hansen rounded out singles play with a hard-fought straight-set defeat of van Oorschodt by a score of 7-6 (2), 6-4 in the No. 6 spot.
GW returns to action on Feb. 8 in Annapolis, Maryland to take on Navy for an 9 a.m. contest.
