WASHINGTON - The George Washington's men's and women's swimming and diving teams travel to cross-town rival Georgetown for a tri-meet against the Hoyas and Atlantic 10 foe Davidson on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m.
Coming off a week-long winter break training trip to Puerto Rico, the Colonials opened 2015 action last weekend at the Rhode Island Invitational, where both the men's and women's squads took second place. On the women's side, GW amassed 390 points with four event victories and 31 top-five performances, finishing ahead of host URI's 365.50 points. On the men's team, the Buff and Blue accumulated 369 points on the strength of four first-place efforts and 27 top-five finishes. Massachusetts took top overall honors on both the men's and women's sides.
Senior Morgan Zebley paced the women with three race victories, winning both the 100- and 200-yard butterfly and teaming up with classmate Janica Lee and freshmen Abigail Fusco and Hannah Kopydlowski for a first-place effort in the 200-yard medley relay.
Sophomore Liam Huffman led the men's side, finishing first in the 200- and 1000-yard freestyle events.
Saturday's matchup will be Georgetown's second contest in two days after taking on American University on Friday afternoon. Davidson fell to William and Mary in its first meet of 2015 on Jan. 10.
