GW Women's Tennis Wraps Final Day of Tiger Classic

TOWSON, Md. - The George Washington women's tennis team tied back-to-back matches with UMBC and host Towson on Sunday afternoon on the final day of the Tiger Classic at the Towson Center Tennis Courts.
The Colonials drew 2-2 with the Retrievers in singles play and went 1-1 against the Tigers in doubles action.
"This was an overall solid opening weekend," said second-year Head Coach Greg Munoz. "Our freshmen went undefeated through two days, which was great to see. This tournament was a good warm up for our upcoming events this fall."
Competing in singles against UMBC, rookie Teodora Radosavljevic and sophomore Allison Hansen picked up victories for the Buff and Blue. At the No. 1 spot, Radosavljevic nearly blanked Madlena Kurasz, 6-0, 6-2, while Hansen topped Laura Ambrozic in a super tiebreaker by scores of 6-3, 5-7, 16-14.Hansen and Radosavljevic then teamed up at the top spot for the Colonials' doubles victory against Towson as the pair downed Barbora Vasilkova and Lucy Williams, 8-2.
GW returns to action next weekend at the three-day Georgetown Classic, held from Friday, Sept. 19 through Sunday, Sept. 21 at the GW Tennis Center at the Mount Vernon Campus and Georgetown Visitation Prep.
