GW Gymnastics Takes Third at UNH Quad Meet

DURHAM, N.H. - The George Washington gymnastics team equaled its season-high score on balance beam and scored 195.150 en route to a third-place finish at New Hampshire's Quad Meet on Saturday afternoon at Ludholm Gymnasium.
No. 18 Penn State won the meet with a score of 197.200 followed by the host Wildcats (196.675), the Colonials and Bridgeport (193.400).
GW scored 48.625 on balance beam for the second consecutive meet in addition to scores of 48.925 on both vault and uneven bars and 48.675 on floor exercise.
Senior Kiera Kenney finished in a four-way tie for first place on the uneven bars, scoring 9.850. Senior Brittany Doran tied for fifth with 9.825 while Betsy Zander tied for eighth with 9.80.
Freshman Chelsea Raineri scored 9.875 on vault, the fifth time this season she has scored 9.875 or better, to tie for fourth place on the event.
Graduate Student Kayla Carto was the lone Colonial to compete in the all-around. She finished in fourth place with 39.075, the second straight meet she has eclipsed the 39.00 threshold. She scored 9.825 on vault (t-10th), 9.75 on uneven bars (t-14th), 9.75 on balance beam (14th) and 9.75 on floor exercise.
GW will compete twice next weekend to close out the regular season. The Colonials will visit Towson on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. before hosting the Tigers and Yale on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. for Senior Day.
