
GW Gymnastics Falls in Dual Meet at Missouri

WASHINGTON - The George Washington gymnastics team registered five top-five finishes in a dual-meet loss at Missouri on Friday evening at Hearnes Center.
Missouri won the meet with a team score of 195.725 while the Colonials scored 193.700.
GW tallied event scores of 48.75 on vault, 48.725 on uneven bars, 47.725 on balance beam and 48.50 on floor exercise.
Freshman Chelsea Raineri registered the top performance of the day for the Colonials, scoring 9.875 to take second place on vault. It marked the first time this season that Raineri has not won or earned a share of the vault title. Missouri's Rachel Updike scored 9.925 to win the event.
The Colonials had four of the top six vault routines on the evening led by Raineri's 9.875. Freshman Alex DeMoura took fourth place with 9.750 while junior Elena Corcoran and graduate student Kayla Carto tied for fifth at 9.725.
Senior Betsy Zander earned a share of the balance beam title with a season-high score of 9.825. She added 9.80 on uneven bars (T-6th) and 9.475 on floor exercise (12th).
Senior Kiera Kenney tied with Zander for sixth on uneven bars with a 9.80 while sophomore Taylor Redmond scored a career-high 9.750 to tie for fourth on balance beam.
GW returns to action on Monday, March 3 when it hosts East Atlantic Gymnastics League rivals New Hampshire and Maryland for the annual Pink Meet at the Charles E. Smith Center. Meet time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
