WASHINGTON - Logan Lowe, a top-150 player in the Class of 2015, has signed a National Letter of Intent with the GW golf program, second-year Head Coach Chuck Scheinost announced.
A native of Grass Valley, California, Lowe is currently ranked No. 140 on the Junior Golf Scoreboard Boys Class of 2015 rankings. He is the third top-150 recruit signed by Coach Scheinost since he took the helm of the program in July 2013, along with current Colonial freshmen Vince Palazzolo and Jack Porcelli. He'll also join current rookie and fellow Northern Californian Zack Bailey (Walnut Creek) on GW's roster in 2015-16.
Lowe was named the Sierra Foothills League Most Valuable Player and earned First Team All-League honors for the third straight year as a junior at Nevada Union High School in 2014.
He compiled a 73.3 scoring average across major events this past spring and summer, highlighted by victories at the Sierra Foothills League Tournament (75), the Big I National Championship qualifier (69) and the NCGA Junior Tour Fall Series IV (68-68).
Lowe capped the summer with an invitation to the prestigious First Tee Nature Valley Open hosted at Pebble Beach Golf Links and Poppy Hills Golf Course on California's Monterey Peninsula. He placed fourth in the Pro/Junior event playing alongside Champions Tour pro Jeff Sluman and was interviewed on Golf Channel's coverage of the event.
Lowe has amassed eight victories dating back to 2012 in either The First Tee of Greater Sacramento, International Junior Golf Tour or American Junior Golf Association events, and he was named the TFTGS Junior Tour Boys 14-15 Player of the Year in 2012.
Lowe is also a standout in the classroom, as he was named to the AJGA HP Scholastic Honor Roll Team in 2014 and has been recognized on The First Tee National A/B Honor Roll for seven consecutive years.
