WASHINGTON - Lauren Weaver has joined the GW men's and women's swimming and diving staff as an assistant coach, Head Coach Dan Rhinehart announced.
Coach Weaver joins the Colonials' squads following a standout career at Duke, where she was a four-year ACC Championship team selection and an NCAA Championship qualifier.
"I am incredibly excited to be joining the GW swimming and diving staff, and I am looking forward to working with the student-athletes towards achieving their goals both in and out of the pool," Coach Weaver said. "I feel very fortunate to be given the opportunity to coach alongside a head coach as experienced as Dan Rhinehart, and to be doing so at a university as esteemed as George Washington."
An integral part of Duke's four consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference Championships (2011-14), Coach Weaver was a team captain and a three-time All-ACC performer, earning accolades in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly events. She holds school records in three individual events as well as four relays and was a U.S. Olympic Team Trials qualifier in 2012.
"Coach Weaver had a notable collegiate swimming career and I am excited for her to bring that experience to our program," said Coach Rhinehart. "She has a great swimming background and I am confident her knowledge will help elevate what we are trying to accomplish."
During her time with the Blue Devils, Coach Weaver volunteered as a swim instructor in a monthly program that provides swim lessons to underprivileged youth. She served as a lifeguard at the Duke Recreation Center and was a swim clinic instructor with Duke Aquatics, teaching children ages 4-8. Coach Weaver also spent three years as a manager and lifeguard at Lakehills Pool.
A 2014 graduate of Duke with a bachelor's degree in evolutionary anthropology, Coach Weaver was a two-time ACC All-Academic selection and Dean's List student and was named an Academic All-American during her senior season.
