Navy Spring Invitational Final Results
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The George Washington men's golf team and senior Martin Liu earned second place finishes at the two-day, 36-hole Navy Spring Invitational on Sunday.
The Colonials took home second place out of 20 teams with a two-round score of 29-over par 597 after shooting a 22-over 306 on Sunday. GW finished just four strokes behind Penn, which shot a 25-over 593 through 36 holes at the par-71 Naval Academy Golf Course.
Liu, who sat in a tie for 12th place on Saturday with a score of 2-over 73, shot an even-par 71 for a two-round score of 2-over 144 to finish second out of 111 golfers and just one stroke behind the Quakers' Max Marsico, who shot a two-round 1-over 143 for medalist honors.
Freshman Jack Persons shot a 7-over 78 on Sunday for a two-round total of 9-over 151 to tie for 13th, and senior Andres Pumariega finished with a 7-over 78 for a 36-hole total of 10-over 152. Senior Taylor Fuqua shot a 13-over 84 on Day 2 for a two-round score of 12-over 154 and a tie for 33rd place.
Senior Brandon Rukin finished in a tie for 53rd after shooting a 9-over 80 on Sunday for a two-round total of 15-over 157. Junior Manny Tulumaris tied for 80th with a two-round score of 20-over 162, and sophomore Graham Lawyer finished tied for 99th with a two-round total of 23-over 165.
