GW Golf Hosts 14th Annual Invitational This Weekend

The invitational begins on Friday with 36 holes of play, followed by 18 holes on Saturday, on the par-72, 6,834-yard course. Teams will tee off in a shotgun start each day at 8:30 a.m.
The 11-team tournament features reigning champion Penn, in addition to 2011 returnees Hofstra, Holy Cross, Rider and St. Francis (N.Y.). The Quakers, who are coached by GW alumnus and former Colonials golf coach Scott Allen ('94), have won the tournament three times - in 2006, 2007 and 2011. Rounding out the pack are

Then-junior Andres Pumariega won individual medalist honors with a three-round total of 215, which included a two-under-par 70 performance in the second round.
Penn won last year's event with a three-round total of 880, just five strokes ahead of GW and Yale. The Quakers' top finisher was PJ Fielding, who tied for third with a three-round score 219. Holy Cross finished in fourth (915), followed by Monmouth (917) in fifth and Yale's B-Team (960) sixth. Rider (975) landed seventh, St. Francis (N.Y.) (1,009) finished eighth and Hofstra (1,035) finished ninth.
