WASHINGTON - After competing in its third tournament in four weeks, the George Washington softball team returns home to welcome Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday, March 13 at Mount Vernon Field.

The contest marks the first doubleheader of the season for the Colonials, who are coming off a 1-3 mark at the War Eagle Classic at Auburn last weekend.

GW (4-12) opened the tournament with a 5-0 win over Presbyterian and posted its second shutout in three games. The Colonials subsequently fell to #20/19 Auburn (3-0), Louisiana Tech (4-2) and Evansville (11-6) during the remainder of the weekend.

Over the four games, senior Kara Clauss pitched 17 innings and struck out 20 batters. From the plate, freshman Victoria Valos slammed her first career home run against Presbyterian on Friday, and sophomore Chelsea Lenhart hit her first homer of the season against Evansville on Sunday.

Mount St. Mary's (5-12) is coming off a 2-2 weekend at the UMBC Dawg Pound Invitational. The Mount opened the weekend with an 8-5 loss to Siena, defeated host UMBC (11-0) and Niagara (6-2), and closed the weekend with a 4-3 loss to Coppin State. The last time the two squads faced off in 2010, Mount St. Mary's came away with both ends of the doubleheader.

Game one between the Colonials and the Mount is set for 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
