GW Men's Swimming Dominates Georgetown in Home Finale

GW was paced by junior standout Phillip Graeter, who won all four events in which he swam. The
Marshall Seedorff, the lone senior on the Colonials squad, posted two first-place and one second-place finish in his final home meet of his career.
GW opened the meet with first- and second-place finishes in the 400-yard medley relay. Sophomore Jake Mortensen, freshman Garrett Cottingham, Graeter and junior Luke Quimby won the event in 3:30.66, followed by freshmen Joe Lipworth and Adam Rabe, junior Alex Etz and Seedorff in a close second with a time of 3:33.28.
Junior Niklas Glenesk won the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 1:42.17, while Quimby came in a close second with a time of 1:45.84. Junior Stephen Nelson and sophomore Spencer Neff took home second and third, respectively, in the 1,000 free. Nelson's time of 9:53.93 earned him a second-place finish, while Neff swam a time of 10:03.08.
In the 100-yard backstroke, just .66 seconds separated first and third places. Mortensen claimed first in the event in 53.33 seconds followed by Etz in a tight third in 53.99. Rabe won the 100-yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 59.42 seconds, and classmate Cottingham followed in second just .43 seconds later with a time of 59.85 seconds.
Graeter picked up his second victory in the 200-yard butterfly when he clocked in at 1:56.54. Freshman Sean Rhinehart finished third in 1:59.84. Seedorff won the 50 free in 21.16 seconds and Niccolo Wilson came in a close second in 21.81.
The Colonials swept the top-four spots of the 100 free, led by junior Niklas Glenesk in 46.98 seconds, Wilson in second in 47.66, Seedorff in third in 47.95 and Quimby in fourth in 48.07. Graeter then won the 200 back with a time of 1:55.59 while Mortensen finished second in 1:56.68.
Cottingham and Rabe earned first and second in the 200 breast, with Cottingham touching the wall in 2:10.23 and Rabe in 2:10.47. GW swept the top-three spots of the 100 fly with Wilson in first in 52.73 seconds, Etz in second with a time of 53.19 and Rhinehart in third in 54.32.
Graeter's final victory came in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:09.92. Lipworth took home second place in 4:24.73. The Colonials wrapped up action with first- and second-place finishes in the 400 free relay. Glenesk, Etz, Quimby and Seedorff earned first with a time of 3:09.46, and Wilson, Rabe, Mortensen and Nelson finished in second in 3:13.20.
