GW Men's Swimming Lands Second at URI Invitational

Junior Niklas Glenesk earned a team-high three first-place finishes on the weekend, while classmate Phillip Graeter picked up two victories.
Glenesk earned his first victory in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:38.61. Junior Stephen Nelson followed in third, touching the wall in 4:46.45. Glenesk picked up his second win in the 200 free, clocking in at 1:42.23.
He then won the 1,000 free in 9:48.06, 7.21 seconds ahead of
Graeter earned top honors in the 200-yard individual medley in 1:56.28, followed by a victory in the 400 IM in 4:06.26. Freshman Joe Lipworth followed Graeter in the 400 IM with a fourth-place finish in 4:17.59. Graeter also landed second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:55.44.
Swimming a time of 47.86 seconds, junior Luke Quimby won the 100 free. Senior Marshall Seedorff finished in a close fourth with a time of 48.87 seconds. Seedorff then won the 50 free in 21.62 seconds, followed by sophomore Niccolo Wilson in eighth with a time of 22.33 seconds.
Freshmen Garrett Cottingham and Adam Rabe finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 200-yard breaststroke with times of 2:13.19 and 2:14.29.
The 400 free relay team of Graeter, Seedorff, Glenesk and Quimby landed second with a time of 3:10.70. The 200 free relay also finished second as Quimby, junior Alex Etz, Wilson and Seedorff touched the wall in 1:27.83.
The 200 medley relay team of sophomore Jake Mortensen, Cottingham, Etz and Seedorff earned a second-place finish in 1:37.27.
GW returns to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 21 when the Colonials host cross-town rival
