Five GW Gymnasts Advance To NCAA Regionals

WASHINGTON, DC- Senior Leslie Delima highlights a group of five George Washington gymnasts that will continue their individual seasons at the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Athens Regional on April 2.
Delima will be joined by freshmen Betsy Zander and Kiera Kenney, sophomore Kayla Carto and redshirt sophomore Monique Blount at the University of Georgia.
Delima, an All-EAGL First Team selection in the all-around, floor exercise and balance beam, qualified as an all-around competitor following her 38.700 at this past Saturday's EAGL Championships at the Charles E. Smith Center. Zander and Carto also qualified as all-around performers after both being named to the All-EAGL Second Team for the all-around.
Kenney, an All-EAGL Second Team selection on bars, qualified as an individual event specialist on the uneven bars while Blount qualified on the balance beam.
The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships in Cleveland, Ohio, April 15-17, hosted by Kent State University and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission.
In addition, the event winners at each regional will advance to the national championships (in that event only) if they are not part of a qualifying team or an all-around qualifier.
