Colonials Post 192.575 At EAGL Championships

WASHINGTON, DC- The George Washington gymnastics team concluded their 2011 season by posting a score of 192.575 in the EAGL Championships on Saturday afternoon in front of 1,110 fans at the Charles E. Smith Center. North Carolina won the event with New Hampshire and Maryland joining the Tar Heels on the podium.
Senior Leslie Delima competed for the final time at Smith Center and finished tied for fifth place on the floor exercise with a score of 9.850. She also scored 9.700 on both the vault and balance beam while registering a 9.450 on the uneven bars. Delima finished tied for eighth overall in the all-around with 38.700.
Delima secured First Team All-Tournament with her performance on the floor exercise on Saturday. She also earned Second Team All-Tournament honors with her routine on the balance beam.
The Colonials recorded team scores of 48.550 on the vault, 46.825 on the uneven bars, 48.275 on the balance beam and 48.925 on the floor exercise.
Freshman Kiera Kenney finished tied for 13th on the balance beam (9.700) and sophomore Stephanie Stoicovy scored a career-high 9.825 on the floor exercise.
Junior Amanda Murphy performed a strong routine on the floor exercise, finishing with a score of 9.800 while sophomore Kayla Carto contributed a 9.725.
The Colonials will now wait for individual invitations to NCAA Regionals which will be announced on Monday afternoon.
