GW Gymnastics Honored At EAGL Championship Banquet

WASHINGTON, DC- Margie Foster-Cunningham has been named the 2011 East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Coach of the Year and senior Leslie Delima was named First Team All-EAGL on three events, as announced at the EAGL Championship Banquet held on Friday evening at the Marvin Center Grand Ballroom.
Foster-Cunningham secures her first Coach of the Year honor since GW joined the conference in 2005. Before joining EAGL, she was a four-time Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year (1988, 1998, 1999, 2001).
Delima was named the GW's Most Valuable Performer and earned First-Team honors on the balance beam, floor exercise and all-around. She set career-high scores in all three events this season with a 9.900 on the beam, 9.875 on the floor exercise and 39.175 in the all-around.
The senior from Virginia Beach, VA was a first-team performer on the floor exercise last season and has three second-team honors in her storied career.
Sophomore Kayla Carto and freshman Betsy Zander were named to the All-EAGL Second Team for the all-around while freshman Kiera Kenney earned second-team honors on the uneven bars.
Additionally, Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator Mary Jo Warner was named the EAGL Administrator of the Year.
The George Washington gymnastics team will welcome seven teams to the Charles E. Smith Center on Saturday for the 16th annual East Atlantic Gymnastics League Championships at 2:00 pm.
