Gymnastics Places Fourth Against No. 1 Florida, EAGL Rivals

MORGANTOWN, WV- Freshman Betsy Zander scored a personal-best 38.775 and placed third overall in a loaded field that featured No. 1 Florida on Saturday afternoon in Morgantown,WV. GW finished in fourth-place overall with a score of 193.050.
No. 1 Florida won the quad meet (196.875) while EAGL rivals West Virginia (195.225) and New Hampshire (194.400) took third and fourth place, respectively.
Zander had the best meet of her young career on Sunday afternoon, recording personal-best scores on the vault (9.700) and balance beam (9.675) while tying her career-high on the uneven bars (9.725). She also scored 9.675 on the floor exercise.
Also excelling on Sunday afternoon for GW was sophomore Kayla Carto who scored 38.600 for a fourth-place finish in the all-around. She led the Colonials with a 9.700 on the vault, 9.600 on the unven bars, 9.650 on the balance beam and 9.650 on the floor.
Sophomore Nefertiti Roy delivered a career-high 9.750 on the floor exercise.
Senior Leslie Delima, who entered the meet ranked second in EAGL in the all-around with a 38.805 average, scored 38.425 on Sunday afternoon.
The Colonials return to the road next week when they visit EAGL rival North Carolina State for a dual meet on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm.
