Post-Game Quotes
GW Coach Mike Bozeman
Opening statement
"What do you say about a game like that? It happens in all sports, at all levels. We've seen games where your team can't seem to do anything right, no matter what you try to do. And tonight, we got taken out to the backyard, and they took a piece of wood and just gave us a shellacking. We couldn't shoot, we couldn't dribble, we couldn't pass. One thing we could do was rebound, but we even lost that by six. It was just one of those nights where we couldn't get anything right from the jump ball. It's nothing I'm proud of, but I also felt helpless, like there was nothing I could do. You have to give credit to Temple; there's a reason why they're undefeated in our conference. I really came in expecting us to give a better show tonight."
How do you keep a loss like this from derailing the team's confidence, after they had won 3-of-4?
"One of the mottos we have, and it's the most important one, is that the most important game is the next game. We cannot dwell on this. There's not many positives, but you can't harp on the negatives. You have to put it to rest and move on to the next game. We have a game on Saturday that's very important to us."
What did Temple do specifically on defense that you struggled with the most?
"I think they did a great job of crowding us, and not allowing us to get the ball where we could initiate offenses. They took some of that away, and prevented us from getting into a rhythm. They were very aggressive with their offense. They took advantage of their turnovers - they finished with 43 points off of turnovers. It's the worst that I've ever gotten beat, but again, it didn't' matter what we put on the board - Xs and Os - it was a matter of playing for the name on the front of the jersey as opposed to the name on the back. I just didn't think that collectively we did that tonight."
You forced some turnovers, but couldn't take advantage of them. Was that due to Temple's aggressive play?
"I think it was a lack of our intensity. I thought we were prepared, I thought the scout was very good. We've been watching film on them for three or four days now, we went over to their place preparing for this game. I don't know if maybe, as a boxer would say, we over-trained and have Temple on the brain. But we came out flat, and Temple came out the way a good team does, and they laid it to us."
Sophomore guard Danni Jackson
You kept fighting and were the energetic player that kept going. What was going through your mind as you were trying to be the spark the team was looking for?
"As a point guard, I have to lead the team where I can. I don't think I did that great of a job leading us tonight, but I appreciate the crowd cheering me. I was just trying to play basketball, really. I wasn't too concerned about the score. Coach said go out and play, and I tried to go out and play."
