GW Men's Swimming Claims Fifth at George Mason

FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Washington men's swimming team landed fifth place out of eight teams at George Mason's Patriot Invitational with 385 points, including four top-10 finishes on Saturday to wrap up the three-day meet held at Jim McKay Natatorium.
UMBC led the annual meet with 1,096.5 points.
Junior Stephen Nelson finished eighth out of 32 swimmers in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:32.38. Freshman Garrett Cottingham finished fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:08.27.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Junior Alex Etz, senior Marshall Seedorff, junior Niklas Glenesk and junior Luke Quimby earned a fourth-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay, touching the wall in 3:06.59. Quimby also landed seventh place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.73 seconds. Classmate Phillip Graeter finished first in the consolation final heats, ninth overall, in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:51.00.
The Colonials host Old Dominion on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. in Smith Center Pool.
