Gymnastics Places Third In Cleveland

CLEVELAND, OH - The George Washington University gymnastics team competed in their second meet of the season at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, OH, scoring 190.775 points for a third-place finish in a quad meet against host Kent State, BYU and Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
The Colonials recorded team scores of 47.925 on vault, 46.650 on bars, 48.400 on balance beam and 47.800 in the floor exercise. Host Kent State finished tied for first place with BYU at 194.775 points. Oshkosh followed in fourth-place with 181.775.
Senior Leslie Delima followed her record-setting outing in GW's opener with a solid performance on Friday night, taking third-place in the All-Around (38.575). She tied for first-place with a 9.775 on the balance beam and finished tied for fourth-place with a 9.725 on the floor exercise.
Sophomore Kayla Carto tied her personal record with a 9.750 on the vault, finishing in eighth-place overall. Carto performed well on the balance beam with a 9.700 while finishing fourth-overall in the All-Around (38.400)
Redshirt sophomore Monique Blount sidelined since her arrival at GW, competed in her first meet as a Colonial finishing second on the team in the balance beam with a score of 9.750.
Freshman Taylor Henderson contributed with improvements in all her events from a week ago. She recorded 9.625 on the vault and 9.625 in the floor exercise. Henderson competed on bars for the first time this season, recording a 9.425.
Freshman Betsy Zander finished fifth-overall in the All-Around with 36.825.
The Colonials return to action next Saturday when they visit the Towson Tigers of the East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) for a dual meet at Towson Center. Meet time is 4:00pm. The Tigers have won six consecutive ECAC championships.
