WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington men's soccer head coach George Lidster has named seniors Marcus Ranney and Kory Trott and junior Brice Carr as team captains for the 2010 season. Lidster also announced that the program will hold open tryouts Thursday, Sept. 2, at 11:30 am at Mount Vernon Field.
For information regarding open tryouts, contact assistant coach Craig Jones at 202-994-9779 or cjones1@gwu.edu.
Lidster has appointed lone seniors Ranney and Trott and returning leader in starts in Carr to lead the team in 2010. "All three players are great ambassadors for George Washington University and are involved in student organizations off the field in addition to their new roles as team captains," said Lidster.
Ranney has totaled two goals, six assists and 13 starts in 40 matches in three seasons. "Marcus leads by example on the field and will add an offensive threat for the team in any attacking position," said Lidster.
Trott has started in defense in each of his three seasons, totaling 21 starts in 46 career matches. "Kory has been the anchor for the defense the past three years and a vocal leader both on and off the field," said Lidster.
Carr's 25 starts is the most of any returning player on the Colonials roster. "A former US Youth National team player, Brice is an experienced defender and will help the younger players both off and on the field," said Lidster.
